Presentat pels pol\u00edtics com un esdeveniment que ajudaria a convertir Irlanda en una destinaci\u00f3 tur\u00edstica cultural, la proposta oferia propostes d&#8217;uns 150 participants en set localitzacions de la ciutat de Dublin.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nTota cr\u00f2nica d&#8217;una biennal d&#8217;art es mou per un c\u00e0non de continguts ja marcats per endavant, per la qual cosa constitueix un g\u00e8nere propi de l&#8217;escriptura d&#8217;art. Es suposa que el cronista comen\u00e7ar\u00e0 amb el context de la ciutat amfitriona, dins dels par\u00e0metres del branding urb\u00e0. Quan el nexe entre ciutat i cultura ja existeix, s&#8217;afegir\u00e0 un punt d\u00b4avaluaci\u00f3 m\u00e9s: el grau d&#8217;inserci\u00f3 de la tesi del comissari a la matriu local (d&#8217;aquesta f\u00f3rmula se sol eximir les biennals patriarques com Ven\u00e8cia i Sao Paulo, at\u00e8s que el seu context ja \u00e9s global i els seus localismes s&#8217;esgoten). Nom\u00e9s complert aquests requisits previs, el cr\u00edtic  s&#8217;allibera per anar desgranant les parts a base d&#8217;artistes i les seves obres, b\u00e9 contextualitzades o no.<\/p>\n<p>En el cas de [Dublin Contemporary->www.dublincontemporary.com<br \/>\n] (amb el t\u00edtol &#8220;Terrible Beauty&#8221;, prestat del poeta Yeats) celebrada despr\u00e9s de l&#8217;estiu a nombroses seus, hem de fixar-nos en el context, i m\u00e9s encara si pensem que es tracta d&#8217;un esdeveniment de nova planta impulsat per un pa\u00eds &#8220;intervingut&#8221;, en estat financer cr\u00edtic. Invertir en cultura enmig d&#8217;un proc\u00e9s d&#8217;involuci\u00f3 pressupostari no \u00e9s f\u00e0cil. El &#8220;tigre celta&#8221; ja rugeix menys, per\u00f2 es despr\u00e8n de la gent de la capital una certa enyoran\u00e7a pels anys de bonan\u00e7a, els dublinesos no es resignen per l&#8217;afonia del fel\u00ed, que s&#8217;ent\u00e9n com a s\u00edmptoma passatger. Aix\u00ed que una segona edici\u00f3 es projecta per el 2016, coincidint amb el centenari de la Easter Rebellion.<\/p>\n<p>Si Dublin Contemporary es va acceptar com un impuls leg\u00edtim, va ser en part per qu\u00e8 les aspiracions culturals de Dubl\u00edn segueixen intactes. La inclusi\u00f3 per part dels comissaris Jota Castro i Christian Viveros-Faun\u00e9 de m\u00e9s de trenta artistes irlandesos -de la rep\u00fablica o b\u00e9 del nord- dels m\u00e9s de 150 participants va ser un altre al\u00b7licient. La projecci\u00f3 dels mags de m\u00e0rqueting de 150.000 visites al final es va complir gr\u00e0cies a l&#8217;entusiasme local, ja que Dublin Contemporary desprenia un aire proper i intel\u00b7ligible que animava a fam\u00edlies amb nens i persones que mai abans havien vist tant art contemporani a tafanejar per les aules expositives.<\/p>\n<p>Parlem d&#8217;aules de veritat. La seu principal, l&#8217;edifici neocl\u00e0ssic de Earlsfort Terrace, havia format part del University College Dublin, i en comptes de revestir l&#8217;interior es va deixar intacte: llargs passadissos administratius connectaven sales modestes en estat brut, amb pissarres a les parets, sense obsessionar-se per repintar-ho tot. Un espai retro-institucional, amb un encant enorme. Destacava el petit amfiteatre amb el v\u00eddeo d\u00b4Omer Fast, &#8220;Five Thousand Feet is the Best&#8221; (2010), un enc\u00e0rrec, com un 60% de l&#8217;obra exposada. Entre les obres a destacar a Earlsfort, el treball de pantalles m\u00faltiples de Bj\u00f6rn Melhus sobre l&#8217;estr\u00e8s posttraum\u00e0tic dels militars (&#8220;This is My Home&#8221;, 2011), un v\u00eddeo sobre treballadors migrants de Taiwan per Chen-Chieh Jen, i, d&#8217;entre els irlandesos, una recreaci\u00f3 de la visita a Irlanda d&#8217;Artaud al 1937, de Patrick Jolley, o &#8220;This short-term evacuation&#8221; (2011) de Brian Duggan, amb una maqueta d&#8217;una s\u00ednia abandonada per la fuga de Txern\u00f2bil. A la pel\u00b7l\u00edcula Elmina, Doug Fishbone introdueix un home blanc com a protagonista a un melodrama produ\u00eft per al consum massiu a Ghana. Entre els pintors, i dels pocs a tractar un tema local, els quadres de Brian Maguire sobre els assassinats entre bandes de Dubl\u00edn.<\/p>\n<p>S&#8217;ha dit que Dublin Contemporary reflectia un cert gust neo-povera d&#8217;acord amb el moment, per\u00f2 el terme conf\u00f3n el materialisme essencial del concepte original amb la relaxaci\u00f3 formal, la manca de refinament i les configuracions ca\u00f2tiques a base d&#8217;eixams de refer\u00e8ncies culturals. Jo diria que \u00e9s m\u00e9s aviat un gust &#8220;ratera&#8221;, una atracci\u00f3 per l&#8217;agitaci\u00f3 org\u00e0nica derivada de les conjuntures contaminades del nostre temps. S\u00f3n est\u00e8tiques que coincideixen amb la depressi\u00f3 econ\u00f2mica, per\u00f2 que no deriven d\u00b4aquesta. A Dubl\u00edn es veia nom\u00e9s a una part de la mostra, i no sempre la m\u00e9s interessant. Per a alguns artistes de m\u00e9s cotitzaci\u00f3 es reservaven sales m\u00e9s nobles, incloent una ala luxosa del Museu Nacional amb una instal\u00b7laci\u00f3 una mica r\u00edgida de Brian O&#8217;Doherty sobre Beckett, m\u00e9s els quadres de Manuel Ocampo i el intrigant Jorge Tacla.<\/p>\n<p> Alguns creadors es destacaven a d\u00b4altres espais muse\u00edstics, amb mostres monogr\u00e0fiques. D&#8217;una banda, els luxosos quadres de Lisa Yuskavage de lolitas enlluernadores, el seu colorit dif\u00fas i factura experta factors m\u00e9s a la seva problem\u00e0tica, una provocaci\u00f3 si m\u00e9s no per les ortod\u00f2xies moralitzants de la mirada. Yuskavage es reconeix per haver ajudat a rescatar la pintura figurativa novaiorquesa, encara que a Espanya les seves nenes es desconeixen. Un altre autor de m\u00e8rit ha estat Willie Doherty, amb un treball sobre el paisatge de torba de Donegal, &#8220;Ancient Ground&#8221; (2011). La gran coher\u00e8ncia de la reflexi\u00f3 de Doherty sobre terra i identitat, duta a terme al llarg de tants anys, s&#8217;afirmava aqu\u00ed amb una obra d&#8217;una maduraci\u00f3 po\u00e8tica i conceptual lloable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Dublin Contemporary&#8221; neix com a projecte dins d\u00b4un context de crisi econ\u00f2mica i en un pa\u00eds en recessi\u00f3.
