Hist\u00f2ricament, una de les tasques primeres de les anomenades obres mestres fou la de perioditzar. Aquesta qualitat de representar l\u2019esperit del temps, el <em>Zeitgeist<\/em>, les arrossegava cap a una plusv\u00e0lua en el mercat, encara que en ocasions, la seva entrada al patrimoni de la humanitat les protegia dels vaivens mercantils. La pregunta que d\u00f3na t\u00edtol a aquest text \u00e9s \u00f2bviament ret\u00f2rica, si b\u00e9 hauria d\u2019interrogar-nos per aquelles obres contempor\u00e0nies que posseeixen o adquireixen una categoria representacional del <em>Zeitgeist<\/em>. Podria fer-se una enquesta entre professionals i aficionats a l\u2019art per exemples d\u2019aquestes obres dels \u00faltims deu o vint anys. Les respostes serien d\u2019all\u00f2 m\u00e9s variades. Si b\u00e9 el mercat de l\u2019art intenta inflar l\u2019horitz\u00f3 amb eternes promeses de <em>\u201cnext-big-things\u201d<\/em>, la durabilitat d\u2019aquestes promeses es rebel\u00b7len ef\u00edmeres. Tot i aix\u00f2, el mercat segueix jugant el seu paper, potser no en la fabricaci\u00f3 d\u2019obres mestres, per\u00f2 s\u00ed en l\u2019aixecament de monuments que aspiren a erigir-se com a s\u00edmbols atemporals, a la vegada que representacions de conjuntures hist\u00f2riques.<\/p>\n<p>Resulta a m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s inevitable, en qualsevol consideraci\u00f3 sobre les obres mestres contempor\u00e0nies, l\u2019associaci\u00f3 amb l\u2019arquitectura i amb l\u2019esfera dels arquitectes. Art i arquitectura. Em refereixo a Ai Weiwei amb el seu estadi ol\u00edmpic a Beijing (2008, conjuntament amb Herzog&#038;de Meuron); o m\u00e9s recentment, l\u2019escultura <em>ArcelorMittal Orbit<\/em> d\u2019Anish Kapoor (tamb\u00e9 amb motiu de les Olimp\u00edades de Londres d\u2019aquest any). En ambd\u00f3s casos, es tracta d\u2019un art en estreta alian\u00e7a amb el capital i el poder. Si ara establ\u00edssim una altra enquesta sobre les obres art\u00edstiques que millor representen l\u2019actual fase de capitalisme global, possiblement aquestes dues tindrien totes les butlletes. D\u2019aix\u00f2 se\u2019n deriva (per fortuna per a nosaltres), que l\u2019art per s\u00ed mateix \u00e9s incapa\u00e7, ni tan sols mitjan\u00e7ant la pol\u00e8mica i l\u2019esc\u00e0ndol, de concentrar tota l\u2019atenci\u00f3 medi\u00e0tica i impacte social que a qualsevol obra mestra se li reclamaria. L\u2019arquitectura contempor\u00e0nia, o aquesta associaci\u00f3 d\u2019interessos entre poder i capital que he mencionat, ho aconsegueix, encara que fracassant a nivell cr\u00edtic, doncs malgrat la seva popularitat (o populisme), aquests nous monuments de la cultura de l\u2019espectacle veten la seva pr\u00f2pia entrada en el pante\u00f3, per exc\u00e9s i grandiloq\u00fc\u00e8ncia. No ens serveixen. Resulta a m\u00e9s ir\u00f2nic que tant Kapoor com Weiwei hagin rendit tribut en temps recents al <em>Monument a la Tercera Internacional <\/em> (1919-1920) de Vladimir Tatlin; el primer, amb la seva torre a Londres, i el segon, amb <em>Fountain of Light<\/em> (2007), una \u201cversi\u00f3\u201d personal del monument de Tatlin per\u00f2 com si d\u2019una gran aranya de llum es tract\u00e9s. Aquestes obres convertides en espectacles sols donen idea d\u2019un estil post-modernista t\u00edpic, citacionista, sense inter\u00e8s.<\/p>\n<p>Potser, enlloc de mirar cap aquesta direcci\u00f3, un tipus d\u2019art m\u00e9s modest pot il\u00b7luminar-nos en la nostra indagaci\u00f3. \u00c9s sabut que la Documenta de Kassel ha estat sempre el lloc on el vol\u00e0til <em>Zeitgeist<\/em> ha tingut una estan\u00e7a on materialitzar-se. La mem\u00f2ria acumulada de l\u2019art gira la nostra atenci\u00f3 una vegada i una altra sobre la cita alemanya, i el p\u00f2sit va solidificant. Els noms, les obres, flueixen en la mem\u00f2ria col\u00b7lectiva. Documenta, al marge de que produeixi o no produeixi obres mestres, sempre ha estat generosa amb l\u2019elaboraci\u00f3 d\u2019imatges que operen com indicadors del <em> Zeitgeist<\/em>. Existeix for\u00e7a consens entre la cr\u00edtica en qu\u00e8 la obra de la \u00faltima dOCUMENTA (13) que millor aspira a ocupar qualsevol pla\u00e7a d\u2019honor \u00e9s la de Pierre Huyghe. <em>Untilled <\/em> (2011-2012) t\u00e9 a la seva cartel\u00b7la explicativa els seg\u00fcents materials: \u201centitats vives i coses inanimades, fetes i no fetes\u201d. Huyghe, un gran nom dins de l\u2019art, pot agradar m\u00e9s o menys, tot i que aquesta obra, feta de mat\u00e8ria, animals i escombraries ,ha de ser presa molt seriosament. Seria ingenu no veure aqu\u00ed tamb\u00e9, el mercat (la cartel\u00b7la ho deixava clar), per\u00f2 la difer\u00e8ncia respecte als anteriors exemples \u00e9s notable. <\/p>\n<p>La circulaci\u00f3 d\u2019imatges del no-lloc assenyalat per Huyghe amplifica el seu efecte, junt amb la mitologia oral i experiencial (qui va veure al gos llebrer i qui no!, o fins i tot, qui va veure Huyghe, i qui no!). Un ha de recon\u00e8ixer amb pesar, que de la marat\u00f3 per la dOCUMENTA (13) i el Karlsaue, la instal\u00b7laci\u00f3 de Huyghe va quedar pendent. Tot i aix\u00ed, la circulaci\u00f3 del record d\u2019aquells que la van experimentar, pot ser suficient; <em>Untilled <\/em> esdev\u00e9 l\u2019obra que simbolitza l\u2019esfondrament actual en el que s\u2019endinsen les coses. El detritus i el compostatge com a met\u00e0fores del nostre esperit d\u2019\u00e8poca, del nostre Zeitgeist. La bellesa del rebuig, del <em>\u201cno man\u2019s land\u201d <\/em> i l\u2019aband\u00f3, semblen alimentar un esperit en descomposici\u00f3 que necessita processar, reciclar, compostar&#8230; per esdevenir mat\u00e8ria renovada. No sabem si obra mestra, per\u00f2 Untilled mereixeria entrar en la categoria de obra no-mestra que representa la totalitat del m\u00f3n destil\u00b7lant els seus s\u00edmptomes de descomposici\u00f3. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CyXy7Aok_WM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Si la noci\u00f3 d\u2019obra mestra pertany a una categoria modernista de l\u2019art, aleshores podem certificar que a la nostra postmodernitat, ja no hi tenen cabuda.
