Aquesta conversa s&#8217;endinsa en el seu treball i en la seva atenci\u00f3 al folklore des del prisma del que \u00e9s c\u00f2smic, i viceversa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jorge Van den Eynde: Podr\u00edeu descriure breument la vostra feina?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>Rafal Zajko:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>S\u00f3c un artista polon\u00e8s radicat a Londres i la meva feina at\u00e9n el passat industrial i el seu impacte mediambiental en relaci\u00f3 amb el llegat obrer i les identitats <em>queer<\/em>. La meva pr\u00e0ctica escult\u00f2rica incorpora diversos materials i processos, incloent-hi cer\u00e0mica, sistemes de ventilaci\u00f3, pr\u00f2tesis i performance amb la intenci\u00f3 d&#8217;examinar la tradici\u00f3 polonesa, la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3 i la tecnoci\u00e8ncia <em>queer<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>Paco Chanivet:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>La millor forma per descriure el que era el meu treball \u00e9s: instal\u00b7laci\u00f3 figurativa pervertida per un vincle de depend\u00e8ncia amb all\u00f2 absolut on es connecten hist\u00f2ries cient\u00edfiques, religioses i especulatives. En altres paraules, solia crear situacions estranyes a llocs rars. La meva gran font d&#8217;inspiraci\u00f3 han estat sempre les processons de Setmana Santa o els altars barrocs que abunden a la meva ciutat natal, Sevilla, aix\u00ed com la ficci\u00f3 especulativa i el terror materialista. Per\u00f2 la veritat \u00e9s que Paco Chanivet, com a artista, va deixar d&#8217;existir fa uns anys. La ra\u00f3 principal va ser la inesperada mort del meu pare i un vincle estrany entre una de les meves peces i la seva desaparici\u00f3\/abducci\u00f3\/transmutaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><strong><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">JV:\u00a0<\/span>Sento molt el que ha passat amb el teu pare, Paco. A partir de la forma amb qu\u00e8 comenteu el que feu, veig un punt de partida interessant: la tradici\u00f3 i el folklore. Mentre Rafal recupera el folklore polon\u00e8s a la seva feina, Paco ha esmentat que una de les seves fonts d&#8217;inspiraci\u00f3 s\u00f3n les processons de la Setmana Santa. Podr\u00edeu aprofundir en la manera com els vostres treballs s&#8217;endinsen en les arrels de la tradici\u00f3?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>RZ:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Paco, sento escoltar sobre el teu pare &#8211; va haver de ser molt dur. El catolicisme va tenir un impacte enorme en els meus anys de formaci\u00f3, en particular per la connexi\u00f3 amb la mort i el m\u00e9s enll\u00e0. En una de les meves exposicions recents, <em>Resuscitation<\/em>, reflexionava sobre el punt exacte abans de la mort on alguna cosa torna a la vida. Pensava en els humans intentant salvar el planeta, protegint la naturalesa abans que mori. A <em>Amber Chamber<\/em> vaig idear una mena de sarc\u00f2fag per a Chochol, un personatge del folklore polon\u00e8s que actuaria com una met\u00e0fora de la resucitaci\u00f3. Chochol era un personatge de la novel\u00b7la <em>El casament<\/em> de Stanis\u0142aw Wyspianski, creada perqu\u00e8 veia que els seus contemporanis no respectaven la natura. La forma de Chochol prov\u00e9 dels almiars que protegien petits arbres durant l&#8217;hivern. En la <em>performance<\/em>, entono una can\u00e7\u00f3 tradicional de la meva regi\u00f3 al nord-est de Pol\u00f2nia, una \u00e0rea majorit\u00e0riament cat\u00f2lica en la qual moltes persones s\u00f3n a m\u00e9s curanderes, vidents i ancianes que es diuen &#8216;susurradoras&#8217;, formant una estranya combinaci\u00f3 de catolicisme i paganisme. La can\u00e7\u00f3 es canta amb un m\u00e8tode tradicional anomenat cant blanc, que el fan servir sobretot les dones en els funerals. A la lletra, una persona s&#8217;acomiada del m\u00f3n, i m&#8217;interessava com es podria interpretar com un comiat de la Terra com a planeta, vista no des del dol sin\u00f3 com l&#8217;expectaci\u00f3 de nous comen\u00e7aments. La performance era el resultat de la meva investigaci\u00f3 al voltant del cosmisme sovi\u00e8tic i Nicolai Fyordorov; sobre com pensaven que la humanitat nom\u00e9s podria trobar la felicitat en un lloc que no fos la Terra.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>PC:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Si faig un exercici retrospectiu, diria que vaig comen\u00e7ar a especular amb narratives apocal\u00edptiques en llegir i escoltar les hist\u00f2ries de l&#8217;Antic Testament. Fa poc vaig descobrir que tot el que faig ve d&#8217;un objecte relacionat amb la Setmana Santa: la cistella del pas de la Carreteria. Es tracta d&#8217;una talla d&#8217;estil neobarroc realitzada al comen\u00e7ament del segle XX que recorda una cistella envoltada de branques amples d&#8217;arbres entrella\u00e7ades per corda daurada. Quan era petit i atenia les cerim\u00f2nies on calia envoltar el seu abismal foliage, m&#8217;aclaparaven els racons i esquerdes de les seves retor\u00e7ades formes. A l&#8217;hora de reconnectar amb aquests records, vaig comprendre moltes de les l\u00f2giques a trav\u00e9s de les quals opero en la producci\u00f3 de les meves obres. En pensar en la meva feina, deixo que els conceptes es retorcen i entrellacen fins que sostenen la pe\u00e7a final, o en l&#8217;aspecte formal, quan dibuixo o modelo, les meves mans no paren de moure&#8217;s, imitant aquest oce\u00e0 de volutes. Si faig el mateix exercici que heu fet, diria que a <em>Alternativa X<\/em> les refer\u00e8ncies a la tradici\u00f3 s\u00f3n molt literals, no nom\u00e9s per abordar l&#8217;apocalipsi sin\u00f3 per pervertir el simbolisme cristi\u00e0 fins que es converteix en una corporaci\u00f3 d&#8217;una pel\u00b7l\u00edcula Kaiju. En un altre tipus de projectes, connecto amb la tradici\u00f3 creant escenaris de misteri, que imiten els altars de les esgl\u00e9sies. En un proc\u00e9s invers, per exemple, a <em>Interregno<\/em>, em vaig centrar a crear una experi\u00e8ncia d&#8217;estranyament i d&#8217;impot\u00e8ncia a l&#8217;audi\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><strong><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">JV:\u00a0<\/span>Despr\u00e9s de con\u00e8ixer els vostres vincles personals i art\u00edstics amb la tradici\u00f3 i el folklore, endinsem-nos en l&#8217;altre aspecte central de la conversa: la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3 i l&#8217;espai exterior. Podeu comentar les diferents refer\u00e8ncies culturals que preneu de la ficci\u00f3 especulativa i les raons per les quals feu servir aquests imaginaris en el vostre treball?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>PC:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Vaig trigar for\u00e7a temps a entendre que la meva feina podia ser tamb\u00e9 un espai on deixar cr\u00e9ixer la meva raresa per donar espai als mons que porto habitant des que era petit. Les refer\u00e8ncies que prenc de la ficci\u00f3 especulativa, la fantasia o el terror v\u00e9nen de diferents llocs: literatura, cinema, videojocs, c\u00f2mics o teories de la conspiraci\u00f3, des de <em>El Silmarillion<\/em> de J.R.R. Tolkien, Thomas Lingotti o Mariana Enr\u00edquez a Charlie Kaufman, <em>La Casa dels Metabarons<\/em> de Juan Gimenez i Alejandro Jodorowsky o teories de la conspiraci\u00f3 com la criptozoologia o el Nou Ordre Mundial (les veig com una forma de ficci\u00f3 especulativa). Faig servir aquests imaginaris perqu\u00e8 entenc que l&#8217;art ja \u00e9s una gran ficci\u00f3 especulativa per si mateix. Una altra ra\u00f3 \u00e9s que concebo la meva feina com una digesti\u00f3 o v\u00f2mit, ja que integra i expulsa tot all\u00f2 que consumeixo. En aquest sentit, hi ha una relaci\u00f3 amb la dissoluci\u00f3 del jo que ens porta a la m\u00edstica i acceptar un gran misteri.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>RZ:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Sempre m&#8217;he sentit fascinat per la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, de fet, molts dels escriptors i directors que has esmentat han estat una influ\u00e8ncia enorme per a mi. Una altra gran refer\u00e8ncia \u00e9s l&#8217;arquitectura sovi\u00e8tica al voltant de la qual vaig cr\u00e9ixer, que es prestava totalment a vincular-la amb est\u00e8tiques sci-fi. Amb el temps, m&#8217;he adonat del poder que ens brinda la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3 de crear mons alternatius i abordar assumptes complexos del present, on Ursula K. Le Guin ha suposat una influ\u00e8ncia clau. Considero que all\u00f2 <em>queer<\/em> es troba al centre de la ci\u00e8ncia ficci\u00f3, ja que ofereix un sentit d&#8217;otretat i la imaginaci\u00f3 de noves cultures, sistemes de creences i formes de vida.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><strong><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">JV:\u00a0<\/span>Rafal ha esmentat el seu inter\u00e8s pel cosmisme rus i la possibilitat de trobar nous comen\u00e7aments fora del nostre planeta, mentre que Paco ha introdu\u00eft la idea d&#8217;estranyament que busca a la seva feina: crear experi\u00e8ncies on l&#8217;espectador es trobi amb altres realitats estranyes, molt en l\u00ednia amb les idees de <span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/arena-attachments\/2771308\/d00afd8a5090921c5470a25361c005e3.pdf?1537936891\">Mark Fisher<\/a><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"PT\">o <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-flux.com\/journal\/92\/205298\/the-word-made-fresh-mystical-encounter-and-the-new-weird-divine\/\"><span lang=\"DE\">Elvia Wilk<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> sobre el que \u00e9s estrany. Aquestes dues l\u00ednies de pensament \u2014el cosmisme i l&#8217;estranyament\u2014 aborden l&#8217;espai exterior o altres realitats com a espais per a la trobada radical entre la nostra visi\u00f3 antropoc\u00e8ntrica (all\u00f2 hum\u00e0) i all\u00f2 desconegut (all\u00f2 no hum\u00e0).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>RZ:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>En el seu assaig <em>The Word Made Fresh<\/em>, Elvia Wilk parla de la protagonista d&#8217;<em>Aniquilaci\u00f3<\/em>, que s&#8217;acaba contaminant en trobar-se amb el subjecte de l&#8217;\u00c0rea X. En aquest moment deixa de ser considerada com una observadora fiable i es converteix en part del paisatge. Despr\u00e9s de descobrir que la Terra no \u00e9s el centre de l&#8217;Univers, els humans deixem de ser simples observadors del cel i ens adonem que nom\u00e9s som un compartiment de les moltes gal\u00e0xies que mirem. Potser ens hem de desprendre del nostre protagonisme constru\u00eft en aquest planeta i comen\u00e7ar a considerar el nostre entorn des d&#8217;una posici\u00f3 menys antropoc\u00e8ntrica. Les nostres percepcions estan en constant transformaci\u00f3, per exemple, les xemeneies eren en altre temps un signe de progr\u00e9s, i ara es consideren s\u00edmbols de la revoluci\u00f3 industrial i la destrucci\u00f3 de la naturalesa per part dels humans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><strong>PC:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>L&#8217;altre sempre ser\u00e0 una cosa prodigiosa, meravellosa i terrible. En lloc d&#8217;obrir-nos a l&#8217;altre, hem desenvolupat la capacitat de consumir-lo i enganyar-nos creient que \u00e9s una experi\u00e8ncia integradora.
