Ulisses va trigar deu anys a tornar a \u00cdtaca; jo vaig trigar gaireb\u00e9 tretze a decidir que havia de tornar dels Estats Units, que aquell miratge de llar aixecat arreu d&#8217;uns estudis in\u00fatils i d&#8217;una feina estable tot i que profundament alienable, al pa\u00eds de les armes ubiq\u00fces, em condemnava a estar eternament ancorada a la nost\u00e0lgia, patint el mal que molts migrants experimenten quan no s\u00f3n capa\u00e7os de recuperar-se d&#8217;aquesta enyoran\u00e7a a la p\u00e0tria perduda. Mirar el mapa del temps i comprovar, per exemple, que a la meva coordenada nord-americana queia neu mentre al sud peninsular brillava un sol primaveral em desbaratava l&#8217;est\u00f3mac en esquin\u00e7alls d&#8217;espant. Enunciar en angl\u00e8s di\u00e0riament qualsevol mena de frase, qualsevol fatiga, i sentir com la llengua espanyola circulava avall, volent manifestar-se, em provocava un curtcircuit mental que havia de batallar per tal de guanyar-me el pa, sabent que la meva llengua liter\u00e0ria minvava sense \u00fas. Perdre el nom \u2014\u00e0rab, male\u00eft, impronunciable per als angl\u00f2fons\u2014 i sentir-ne un succedani era com prostrar-me cada mat\u00ed davant d&#8217;un mirall fet miques: sabia que el meu rostre devia estar en algun lloc entre aquelles tessel\u00b7les, per\u00f2, com el cad\u00e0ver de Polinices per a Ant\u00edgona, havia de ser recompost perqu\u00e8, si no, el reflex nom\u00e9s em retornaria una identitat desfigurada.<\/p>\n<p>D&#8217;aquesta manera, durant m\u00e9s d&#8217;una d\u00e8cada, la meva relaci\u00f3 amb la nost\u00e0lgia es va articular d&#8217;una manera gaireb\u00e9 etimol\u00f2gica: com els herois de Troia abocats als seus N\u00f3stoi (retorns), em dolia (algia) la llunyania de la meva terra, i m&#8217;esglaiava la perspectiva de qu\u00e8 potser mai no tornaria a trepitjar-la com a lloc de desenvolupament vital; \u00e9s a dir, de (des)habitar-la com un no-lloc: en vacances, pur delit transitori mancat d&#8217;arrels. Quina va ser la meva alegria quan, despr\u00e9s d&#8217;un tip de tr\u00e0mits i una pand\u00e8mia, vaig saber trobar prou valor i fer les maletes definitives: mai no tornar\u00e9 a comparar dues not\u00edcies meteorol\u00f2giques, juro que tancar\u00e9 en una caixa forta el meu angl\u00e8s i llen\u00e7ar\u00e9 la clau al riu, i que el meu nom ser\u00e0 meu, encunyat fins i tot en els capitells d&#8217;un palau en ru\u00efnes: Medina Azahara. Quelcom que hagi estat, involunt\u00e0riament, trasplantat a un paratge impropi coneix les circumst\u00e0ncies de les quals parlo: la planta, a manca dels nutrients originaris i privada del clima en qu\u00e8 va n\u00e9ixer, envoltada de criatures hostils, acostuma a defallir, amb l&#8217;afegida culpa d&#8217;haver esdevingut una esp\u00e8cie invasora. Ara, en la C\u00f2rdova dels meus amors que explota la seva bellesa hist\u00f2rica per a goig del turisme i el despla\u00e7ament dels ve\u00efns, respiro calma, les aig\u00fces es redrecen en direcci\u00f3 a la seva via nativa, les tessel\u00b7les \u2014enganxades com cer\u00e0mica japonesa\u2014 em tornen la imatge imperfecta per\u00f2 cicatritzada dels meus trenta-set anys: mitja vida adulta fora, una mutilaci\u00f3 \u2014em dic\u2014, mentre m&#8217;entossudeixo a donar corda retroactiva al rellotge i recuperar, almenys, una part del bot\u00ed robat.<\/p>\n<p>En el Guadalquivir passant per C\u00f2rdova, on vaig llen\u00e7ar la clau, desemboca l&#8217;afluent que travessa el meu pobre: Castro del R\u00edo. El fet que totes dues localitats comparteixin el mateix cabal\u00f3s verd i que estimulin les meves habilitats olfactives aquells vessants de brisa que emanen de les almassereres, al costat de les quals vaig passar temporades d&#8217;infantesa, em fa assentar dins del terra. Les cases s\u00f3n igualment emblanquinades, tot i que aqu\u00ed, a la capital, la gent acostuma a pintar els s\u00f2cols i rematar els marcs de les finestres i portes amb tocs de color d&#8217;alber, mostassa o vermell sang de toro. Tamb\u00e9 noto una major pres\u00e8ncia de geranis que pengen dels balcons. La temporada de la tarongina comen\u00e7a a l&#8217;abril, o a finals de mar\u00e7 si la calor n&#8217;avan\u00e7a la floraci\u00f3, i, al llarg de l&#8217;esgotament dels blancs p\u00e8tals del taronger comencen a brollar altres, els del gessam\u00ed, o de les gard\u00e8nies, o la dama de nit, per la qual cosa durant aproximadament sis mesos a l&#8217;any tot fa olor de la meva infantesa d&#8217;avantpassats vius, la terra dels meus avis. De fet, es podria dir que el meu mal ha anat curant-se, a poc a poc, gr\u00e0cies a una mem\u00f2ria sinest\u00e8sica que supleix l&#8217;experi\u00e8ncia no viscuda, ja que all\u00f2 que el lliga a C\u00f2rdova no podria materialment \u00e9sser un passat rondant pels carrerons, sin\u00f3 els ecos visuals, fragants, sonors, que la ciutat teixeix amb el poble: la gent desplega un accent diferent del meu, per\u00f2 tan familiar que voldria abra\u00e7ar-la, convidar-la al vermut; la cal\u00e7 i la vegetaci\u00f3 complementen la resta d&#8217;un paisatge que, tanmateix, noto en perill.<\/p>\n<p>Alerta. Un \u00e0nec collverd sobrevola el bosc de ribera infestat de pl\u00e0stic. Alerta. Les cries del falcillot negre no resisteixen les altes temperatures i es llancen mortalment des dels nius cap a l&#8217;asfalt. Alerta. A l&#8217;olivera centen\u00e0ria l&#8217;est\u00e0 substituint un impostor en forma d&#8217;arbust alineat que anomenen &#8220;superintensiu&#8221; perqu\u00e8 vol malbaratar molta aigua. All\u00f2 que els ecos del poble no em regalen \u2014la desaparici\u00f3 d&#8217;esp\u00e8cies aut\u00f2ctones, com ara el vaquer lluent, o la desertificaci\u00f3, o un estiu capa\u00e7 de rebentar els term\u00f2metres fins que el mercuri ens cegui els ulls\u2014 \u00e9s impossible d&#8217;encaixar en uns esquemes mentals desajustats de la contemporane\u00eftat i, de cop, se m&#8217;aglomeren llenguatges confusos sota la cicatriu de la cara, dif\u00edcil expulsar-los per la boca segellada, per cap altre orifici. La llar recentment estanyada despr\u00e9s de tanta abs\u00e8ncia s&#8217;assembla, va dir una amiga meva, al retrobament amb un antic amant que pateix d&#8217;una malaltia terminal: una pot fondre&#8217;s en l&#8217;amanyagament i professar-li l&#8217;amor que la dist\u00e0ncia va arrabassar, per\u00f2 t\u00e9 vedada la fusi\u00f3 completa amb la seva anatomia en estat d&#8217;irrevocable final. El joc de perversos malabars es defineix, d&#8217;aquesta manera, com la transformaci\u00f3 de la <a href=\"https:\/\/a-desk.org\/en\/tema-del-mes\/productive-nostalgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nost\u00e0lgia<\/a> en solastalgia: el dol per la llar deslligada del mapa muta en un dolor per la terra que s&#8217;esvaeix sota els nostres peus, com assegura el fil\u00f2sof <a href=\"https:\/\/riull.ull.es\/xmlui\/bitstream\/handle\/915\/22337\/Laguna%20_47_%20%282020%29_10.pdf?sequence=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bruno Latour a<em> D\u00f3nde aterrizar<\/em> <\/a>(2019).<\/p>\n<p>No \u00e9s prec\u00eds, per tant, realitzar grans periples o anar-se&#8217;n a la guerra perqu\u00e8 cogui l&#8217;extraviament, ja que cada superf\u00edcie destinada a rebre les nostres passes cont\u00e9 un grau de descomposici\u00f3 propi. La s\u00edndrome d&#8217;Ulisses resulta tan omnipresent que fins i tot les persones que mai s&#8217;han allunyat de les seves terres testifiquen com aquestes varien en color i humitat, es tornen arenoses o s&#8217;esfumen despr\u00e9s d&#8217;una inundaci\u00f3, es buiden de la vida antany coneguda i s&#8217;omplen d&#8217;una altra cosa: esquerdes on jeien horts artesanals, maquin\u00e0ria agr\u00edcola demolidora, silencis d&#8217;insectes. Migrants tots, no hi ha geografia a la qual tornar i \u00e9s, paradoxalment, en l&#8217;impuls sorgit d&#8217;aquest atracament a m\u00e0 armada on podria empeltar-se una llavor, de car\u00e0cter conservador, s\u00ed, per\u00f2 disposada a reivindicar el passat a partir del seu potencial per al futur. La solastalgia com a energia utilitzada en la renaturalitzaci\u00f3 de zones ermes a causa del progr\u00e9s; la melancolia per les cartografies infantils devastades al revers de la seva tristesa: just\u00edcia clim\u00e0tica; les batusses de l&#8217;avi i l&#8217;\u00e0via concebuts com a eines de la mira cr\u00edtica de cara als seus estius tebis, els pesticides que no han englotit, el llit fluvial que no han creuat caminant perqu\u00e8 anava ple, no es veia ni un cant\u00f3 ni una clau.
