El meu hoste favorit \u00e9s un tigre que es passeja pel lobby fent abra\u00e7ades als fans d&#8217;un equip universitari de futbol americ\u00e0. Hi ha fets que es converteixen en records desitjables en el mateix moment que succeeixen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Era m\u00e9s nost\u00e0lgica als vint que als trenta-quatre, quan hi havia menys coses que trobar a faltar i m\u00e9s futur per davant. No crec que aix\u00f2 sigui una cosa paradoxal o incomprensible; el car\u00e0cter reconfortant que solem associar a la recol\u00b7lecci\u00f3 de fets ja viscuts explica b\u00e9 per qu\u00e8 alg\u00fa triaria all\u00f2 conegut davant all\u00f2 incert. Als vint tenia, d&#8217;alguna manera, m\u00e9s per decidir i, per tant, m\u00e9s capacitat per equivocar-me. Jo vaig optar per la bellesa que tenen certes formes de control.<\/p>\n<p>S&#8217;ha escrit i pensat molt sobre com la nost\u00e0lgia suposa una idealitzaci\u00f3 del passat i els perills d&#8217;autoengany que comporta aquest fals control. El nost\u00e0lgic no nom\u00e9s corre el risc de cometre una fallada epist\u00e8mica en embellir el passat; hi ha alguna cosa encara m\u00e9s problem\u00e0tica, que t\u00e9 a veure amb un anhel que immobilitza i impedeix suportar responsabilitats presents. No voler actuar per prevenir la pena converteix el nost\u00e0lgic no nom\u00e9s en un subjecte insinerat, sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 en una mica \u00e8tic.<\/p>\n<p>Per a Svetlana Boym (2001), hi ha una manera d&#8217;entendre la nostra relaci\u00f3 amb el passat que no converteix la nost\u00e0lgia en una emoci\u00f3 problem\u00e0tica. Boym fa refer\u00e8ncia a un tipus de nost\u00e0lgia que, en lloc de centrar-se en el retorn a un moment passat, \u00e9s conscient de l&#8217;irrecuperable de l&#8217;experi\u00e8ncia viscuda. Aquesta nost\u00e0lgia reflexiva se centra en narratives personals en les que el subjecte participa activament en la reconstrucci\u00f3 i interpretaci\u00f3 del seu passat. A m\u00e9s, no busca restablir el passat, sin\u00f3 que simplement troba plaer a la dist\u00e0ncia sense un inter\u00e8s real a assolir-lo. M\u00e9s que un intent d&#8217;evasi\u00f3, pret\u00e9n recuperar una manera de veure el m\u00f3n. Aqu\u00ed no es comet l&#8217;error de \u201ccomparar temps\u201d (Scott A. Howard, 2012); \u00e9s a dir, de comparar una situaci\u00f3 actual amb una passada. Hi ha un respecte i independ\u00e8ncia pel que vam ser i el que som.<\/p>\n<p>El m\u00e9s important \u00e9s que qui experimenta aquest tipus de nost\u00e0lgia reflexiva \u00e9s capa\u00e7 d&#8217;admetre que, de vegades, el passat va ser diferent de com el recorden. Tenen la capacitat de recon\u00e8ixer que no tot va ser tan llumin\u00f3s i que no \u00e9rem tan bones. Per aconseguir-ho, han de fer servir un vidre ben net per apreciar el veritable valor del passat. Aix\u00f2 no \u00e9s una tasca f\u00e0cil, \u00e9s clar. Peter Goldie (2003), fil\u00f2sof de les emocions, ho explica molt b\u00e9. Per a Goldie, mirar enrere \u00e9s una operaci\u00f3 amb un alt risc de contaminaci\u00f3. Aix\u00f2 \u00e9s perqu\u00e8 en recordar, ens convertim en jutge i part de les nostres mem\u00f2ries. Aix\u00f2 significa que apareixem com a part del contingut del que recordem i que, alhora, els nostres propis pensaments i sentiments presents modelen i afecten aquesta mem\u00f2ria. Ser conscient de com el nostre sistema de valors actuals pot alterar el passat \u00e9s una tasca per al nost\u00e0lgic, que no \u00e9s nom\u00e9s reflexiu, sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 sincer.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00f3n nost\u00e0lgics i sincers: Joseph Cornell, Sophie Carrer, Jonas Mekas, Charlie Brown, Lotte Laserstein, Ramon Gaya i Milena Busquets quan escriu sobre els estius a Cadaqu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>III.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No s\u00e9 si ho recordar\u00e0, per\u00f2 amb set anys li vaig regalar una bossa de m\u00e0. Aquesta era una bossa inspirada en una dona en particular. Un Kelly, un Lady Dior, un Birkin i ara un Mar\u00edn. Una bossa que en realitat era una capsa de sabates folrada amb uns dibuixos de margarides gargotejades amb retolador. Un tros de llana gener\u00f3s funcionava com nansa. Ni pr\u00e0ctic, ni impermeable. Per\u00f2 amb espai suficient per guardar totes aquestes bogeries que les famoses ensenyen a la c\u00e0mera als \u201cwhat&#8217;s in your bag\u201d de Vogue. Moneders, pinces dels cabells, flascons de perfum o l&#8217;ampolla de ginebra d&#8217;Emma Watson. Em vaig agafar una rebequeria de pegar patadetes a terra quan vaig veure que es resistia a treure&#8217;l al carrer a passejar. No s\u00e9 b\u00e9 qu\u00e8 va ser d&#8217;aquella bossa sabatera, per\u00f2 durant un temps la vam fer servir per guardar cintes de casset. Algunes d&#8217;aquestes cintes contenien enregistraments casolans d&#8217;un programa de r\u00e0dio imaginari. La secci\u00f3 estrella del programa era un comunicat meteorol\u00f2gic en qu\u00e8 inform\u00e0vem exclusivament del temps del dia anterior. No ten\u00edem la tecnologia necess\u00e0ria per predir el que passaria aix\u00ed que vam optar per informar els nostres oients del passat. Molts anys despr\u00e9s descobriria que els diaris suecs tamb\u00e9 et recorden si ahir va nevar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IV.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La nost\u00e0lgia \u00e9s una emoci\u00f3 purament est\u00e8tica. Al seu centre hi ha un plaer desinteressat que no t\u00e9 res a veure amb finalitats pr\u00e0ctiques o morals. A m\u00e9s, el nost\u00e0lgic sincer t\u00e9 tres virtuts que comparteix amb l&#8217;esteta: atenci\u00f3, sensibilitat i coratge. El nost\u00e0lgic observa el passat de la mateixa manera que l&#8217;esteta analitza el bell, amb la vulnerabilitat de qui compr\u00e8n que l&#8217;acte de recordar i apreciar no est\u00e0 sota el seu control, conscient que aquests actes poden arribar a transformar-lo en revelar-ne una part del m\u00f3n que desconeixia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>V.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El nost\u00e0lgic t\u00e9 la capacitat de partir la vida en dues. El lloc exacte on decidim dividir entre &#8216;l&#8217;ara&#8217; i &#8216;all\u00f2 d&#8217;abans&#8217; diu molt de nosaltres. Per a alguns, aix\u00f2 ser\u00e0 el quiosc de la cantonada i tots els caramels que es podien comprar amb cinc duros, mentre que per a altres, la refer\u00e8ncia ser\u00e0 el temps abans que sorgissin dolors i penes concretes. Tinc la teoria que no es pot empatitzar amb el nost\u00e0lgic (Mart\u00ednez Mar\u00edn, 2019). La nost\u00e0lgia envia invitacions personals. \u00c9s autoreferencial i no permet ser compartida. Per tant, la <a href=\"https:\/\/a-desk.org\/en\/tema-del-mes\/productive-nostalgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nostalgia<\/a> s&#8217;asseu m\u00e9s a prop de l&#8217;enveja i de la culpa que de l&#8217;alegria o la tristesa, que s\u00f3n emocions altament contagioses.
