La paraula porta una c\u00e0rrega que suggereix resoluci\u00f3, alleujament de tensions i la creaci\u00f3 d\u2019un terreny com\u00fa. Es basa en gran manera en la idea que cal salvar l\u2019ambig\u00fcitat per arribar a la comprensi\u00f3. Tanmateix, val la pena q\u00fcestionar aquest sup\u00f2sit. Parlar de mediaci\u00f3 en l\u2019art implica una escletxa, una dist\u00e0ncia entre l\u2019obra i el seu p\u00fablic, presumptament amb una necessitat de tancament. No obstant aix\u00f2, aquesta hip\u00f2tesi compromet la complexitat de l\u2019art contemporani reduint-la a una s\u00e8rie de narratives digeribles, prioritzant la claredat davant la interpretaci\u00f3 oberta. Tamb\u00e9 implica que l\u2019obra en si mateixa \u00e9s d\u2019alguna manera incompleta o insuficient sense la intervenci\u00f3 d\u2019un mediador. Aix\u00f2 planteja preguntes cr\u00edtiques: el paper de la mediaci\u00f3 \u00e9s aclarir i resoldre, o sostenir l\u2019espai per a les incerteses i provocacions inherents a l\u2019obra? I com influeix aquest proc\u00e9s de mediaci\u00f3 tant en la recepci\u00f3 de l\u2019obra com en el seu significat?<\/p>\n<p>Aquesta intervenci\u00f3 entre l\u2019ambig\u00fcitat essencial de l\u2019art i el desig de fer-lo comprensible convida a considerar m\u00e9s profundament com es configura i es transmet el significat. Una obra d\u2019art no \u00e9s un recipient passiu esperant ser descodificat. Resisteix els nostres intents de fixar-la. \u00c9s \u00fatil esmentar la noci\u00f3 d\u2019Adorno que l\u2019art no funciona de manera mim\u00e8tica ni il\u00b7lustrativa: no pot ser redu\u00eft a un missatge o a una narrativa simple. M\u00e9s aviat, interactuar amb l\u2019art \u00e9s una q\u00fcesti\u00f3 de seguir-ne el moviment, de tra\u00e7ar com desestabilitza, com es despla\u00e7a i es nega a encaixar en categories fixes. Tanmateix, en el m\u00f3n de l\u2019art contemporani, aquest proc\u00e9s sovint es converteix en una mena de tasca administrativa: un exercici per encaixar l\u2019obra dins d\u2019estructures estandarditzades, configurades per institucions, entitats de finan\u00e7ament i prioritats burocr\u00e0tiques.<\/p>\n<p><em>Les Nouveaux Commanditaires<\/em>,\u00a0un programa iniciat als anys noranta per l\u2019artista belga Fran\u00e7ois Hers, convida la ciutadania a encarregar projectes que abordin preocupacions socials, culturals o locals. Agrupa artistes, mediadors i comunitats per connectar l\u2019art amb la vida quotidiana. Segons la seva descripci\u00f3, els mediadors s\u00f3n \u00abexperts en art contemporani capa\u00e7os de garantir que se\u2019n respectin les exig\u00e8ncies\u00bb. La seva tasca \u00e9s facilitar el di\u00e0leg entre artistes, comitents i institucions, alhora que coordinen finan\u00e7ament p\u00fablic i privat per fer realitat aquests projectes. Hi ha m\u00e8rit en aix\u00f2, una creen\u00e7a que l\u2019art pot expressar les necessitats de les comunitats i tenir un paper en la configuraci\u00f3 del teixit social.<\/p>\n<p>Per\u00f2 no puc evitar preguntar-me si aquest enfocament t\u00e9 una cara oculta. En incrustar l\u2019art tan profundament en processos institucionals, no l\u2019estem confinant? L\u2019estructura que pretenia fomentar el di\u00e0leg es converteix en un mitj\u00e0 per contenir l\u2019obra, per neutralitzar-ne les possibilitats m\u00e9s ind\u00f2mites? Em sembla que mediar \u2015si hem d\u2019utilitzar el terme\u2015 \u00e9s viure en aquesta contradicci\u00f3. \u00c9s mantenir oberta la tensi\u00f3 entre el que es pot explicar i el que no, recon\u00e8ixer que el significat \u00e9s sempre contingent, sempre canviant, tot resistint l\u2019impuls d\u2019aplanar-lo en alguna cosa manejable.<\/p>\n<p>Em ve al cap el treball dels quipus de Cecilia Vicu\u00f1a, nusos i fils fr\u00e0gils que no imposen significat, sin\u00f3 enigmes que conviden a la contemplaci\u00f3. Ens arrosseguen a una relaci\u00f3 m\u00e9s que oferir-se com a objectes per ser interpretats netament. Perqu\u00e8 la mediaci\u00f3 sigui significativa, ha de sostenir aquesta mena d\u2019obertura, ha de permetre la possibilitat que el significat quedi inacabat, que algunes preguntes no trobin respostes f\u00e0cils.<\/p>\n<p>La cr\u00edtica de la visibilitat de Hito Steyerl \u00e9s aqu\u00ed ineludible. La seva preocupaci\u00f3 no \u00e9s nom\u00e9s amb les obres que intenten visualitzar l\u2019invisible o l\u2019ocult, sin\u00f3 que assenyala que la visibilitat mateixa \u00e9s una ideologia, estretament vinculada a l\u2019ordre global contemporani. Aquesta noci\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 va sorgir en una trobada recent i profundament commovedora d\u2019estudiants acampats a Barcelona, que q\u00fcestionaven les connexions ambig\u00fces entre la producci\u00f3 de coneixement art\u00edstic a l\u2019acad\u00e8mia i el colonialisme i el capitalisme. Argumenten que \u00e9s crucial acceptar que no podem entendre una obra d\u2019art com un fet o un objecte de consum, com un objecte vist i analitzat des d\u2019una perspectiva de dron.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019hiperrealisme en la pintura, la fotografia o fins i tot en el cinema documental no pot captar mai la totalitat de la realitat que intenta representar. Aquests vestigis visuals apunten a la vida fora del marc, una vida que exigeix atenci\u00f3. Molts artistes prefereixen enquadrar els objectes de manera que obrin les imatges a m\u00faltiples lectures, fent recaure en l\u2019espectador la responsabilitat de donar compte de les narratives que existien abans de la fotografia o l\u2019obra, narratives que fan possible que la pe\u00e7a existeixi.<\/p>\n<p>Penso aqu\u00ed en Walid Raad i el seu col\u00b7lectiu fictici, The Atlas Group, que difumina les fronteres entre realitat i ficci\u00f3, posant en dubte l\u2019autoritat de les narratives arxiv\u00edstiques. La seva obra subratlla com la mediaci\u00f3 mai no \u00e9s neutra, perqu\u00e8 sempre est\u00e0 implicada en la configuraci\u00f3 de les narratives que afirma presentar.<\/p>\n<p>Quan vaig comen\u00e7ar en el m\u00f3n del comissariat, encara hi havia una certa incomoditat amb el terme. Alguns ho anomenaven facilitaci\u00f3, altres mediaci\u00f3. Fins i tot ara, el paper continua essent fluid, ja que comissariar no \u00e9s simplement disposar i presentar, sin\u00f3 crear les condicions perqu\u00e8 emergeixi quelcom inesperat. Hi ha un pes \u00e8tic evident en aquesta tasca. Quina veu s\u2019est\u00e0 amplificant? Quines prioritats s\u2019estan servint? Massa sovint, la posici\u00f3 de l\u2019art contemporani s\u2019alinea amb agendes institucionals en lloc de permetre que romangui salvatge i imprevisible.<br \/>\nJa als anys seixanta, artistes com Gordon Matta-Clark i Joseph Beuys afirmaven que l\u2019art no \u00e9s un objecte per desxifrar sin\u00f3 una for\u00e7a viva, cosa que trastorna i provoca en lloc de tranquil\u00b7litzar. Fer l\u2019art m\u00e9s accessible, suavitzar-ne les arestes per facilitar-ne la comprensi\u00f3, \u00e9s diluir-ne el poder. La tasca no \u00e9s explicar, sin\u00f3 mantenir obert un espai on puguin existir la incomoditat i la incertesa. La mediaci\u00f3, en aquest sentit, no consisteix a transmetre significats fixos. Es tracta de mantenir-se a prop del tremolor del que fa una obra d\u2019art: com ens commou, ens desestabilitza i canvia amb el temps i el context.<\/p>\n<p>Hi ha quelcom vital en els buits, en les pauses on la interpretaci\u00f3 vacil\u00b7la, on el significat parpelleja i es resisteix a resoldre\u2019s. Potser la mediaci\u00f3 no \u00e9s un proc\u00e9s, sin\u00f3 una mena d\u2019atenci\u00f3, una disposici\u00f3 a escoltar, a esperar, a permetre que les preguntes romanguin. I en aquest acte de permetre, s\u2019obre alguna cosa: una trobada inacabada, viva i plena de possibilitats. Les reflexions d\u2019Anne Dufourmantelle sobre el risc i l\u2019hospitalitat destaquen la necessitat de coratge aqu\u00ed; un comprom\u00eds per deixar espai a all\u00f2 que no coneixem. Si la mediaci\u00f3 en l\u2019art contemporani ha de significar alguna cosa, ha d\u2019anar m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de la mera interpretaci\u00f3. Ha d\u2019esdevenir un proc\u00e9s viu, que convidi al risc, que abraci la incertesa i que faci lloc a la transformaci\u00f3. No \u00e9s una tasca d\u2019explicaci\u00f3 sin\u00f3 de pres\u00e8ncia; una obertura on l\u2019obra i l\u2019experi\u00e8ncia de l\u2019espectador es trobin amb tota la seva complexitat i
