Als pocs segons, els metges tallen el cord\u00f3 umbilical que la unia a la seva mare. Trenta anys despr\u00e9s, Regina est\u00e0 comprant il\u00b7legalment sis cordons umbilicals entaforats en una ampolla de Pepsi-cola amb formol. A Guatemala s\u2019hi pot comprar qualsevol cosa imaginable, pels camins m\u00e9s insospitats. El que far\u00e0 \u00e9s lligar-se nua a un llit amb aquests cordons umbilicals per les quatre extremitats. Est\u00e0 embarassada de vuit mesos. Aquesta performance, \u201cMientras, Ellos Siguen Libres\u201d, fa refer\u00e8ncia a les massives violacions infringides pels soldats durant el conflicte armat a milers de dones, embarassades o no. La majoria van perdre els seus fills. <\/p>\n<p>La petita Regina juga als carrers de Ciutat de Guatemala, que no \u00e9s ciutat per a nens. Ni tampoc per a dones. T\u00e9 la taxa m\u00e9s alta de feminicidis del m\u00f3n. En aquest entorn creix aquesta nena, que parlar\u00e0 de la mort i de la viol\u00e8ncia contra la dona quan desenvolupi la seva tasca com a artista. Ho far\u00e0 d\u2019una forma molt gr\u00e0fica a la seva obra \u201cXX\u201d. Col\u00b7locar\u00e0 52 l\u00e0pides de ciment sobre les fosses on descansen 52 persones sense identificar al Cementerio de la Verbena, on cada dia hi arriben cad\u00e0vers desconeguts per ser enterrats acompanyats del m\u00e9s absolut silenci. Galindo ressalta un detall: floreixen lliris blancs sobre les tombes. Diu que aquestes flors neixen de la descomposici\u00f3 dels cad\u00e0vers. Els lliris blancs s\u00f3n s\u00edmbols de la innoc\u00e8ncia, i a la iconografia cristiana, de la puresa. La llegenda explica que creixen sobre les sepultures dels innocents condemnats a mort. Aix\u00ed apareixen, per exemple, a \u201cLa passi\u00f3 de Sacco i Vanzetti\u201d, de Ben Shahn. A l\u2019any 1982 Regina t\u00e9 8 anys.  A Guatemala, Efra\u00edn R\u00edos Montt declara natural la mort violenta. \u00c9s una forma po\u00e8tica de dir-ho, per\u00f2 si volen em poso prosaic: durant els 17 mesos en els que R\u00edos Montt va ser al poder, se l\u2019acusa d\u2019ordenar l\u2019execuci\u00f3 de 1171 ind\u00edgenes, a m\u00e9s d\u2019un miler de violacions sexuals en contra de dones menors d\u2019edat. Durant aquests mesos, a Guatemala no hi havia habitants, sin\u00f3 potencials v\u00edctimes i potencials criminals. De vegades ambdues coses. Aquesta \u00e8poca de terror deixa una petjada inesborrable en la jove, que vint anys m\u00e9s tard es pregunta: \u201cQui pot esborrar aquesta petjada?\u201d. Caminar\u00e0 descal\u00e7a des de la Corte de Constitucionalidad fins al Palacio Nacional de Guatemala, deixant sobre les voreres un rastre de petjades ensangonades. \u00c9s una refer\u00e8ncia a les v\u00edctimes de Montt, que no poden rec\u00f3rrer aquests carrers, per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 una den\u00fancia de la candidatura presidencial de l\u2019ex-militar en aquell 2003.<\/p>\n<p>A l\u2019adolesc\u00e8ncia elabora una poesia molt enganxada a la realitat i sensible amb la dona. Amb els anys, aquella poesia es convertir\u00e0 en acci\u00f3, la primera aparici\u00f3 p\u00fablica de Regina com a performer: \u201cLo voy a Gritar al Viento\u201d (1999): com un \u00e0ngel lad\u00ed, es penja de l\u2019Edificio de Correos de Ciudad de Guatemala i llegeix els seus poemes a crits. Arranca les p\u00e0gines i les llen\u00e7a al carrer, on la gent es baralla pels trossos escrits. La lectura po\u00e8tica d\u2019una realitat tr\u00e0gica es llisca en totes les obres d\u2019aquesta artista.<\/p>\n<p>Regina es fa gran i pensa qu\u00e8 fer amb la seva vida. Estudia per a secret\u00e0ria i aconsegueix una feina en una ag\u00e8ncia de publicitat. Es resigna a ser una dona de casa, pr\u00f2pia o aliena, com ho s\u00f3n milers de dones a la capital del pa\u00eds. Amb molt d\u2019humor tractar\u00e0 aquest tema a \u201cAngelina\u201d. Es disfressar\u00e0 d\u2019empleada de la llar durant un mes complet, realitzant la seva rutina amb aquesta identitat. Per registrar-ho prendr\u00e0 fotos amb una modesta c\u00e0mera de fotos. La podrem veure en un bar, al transport p\u00fablic, amb la seva fam\u00edlia&#8230; on no la podrem veure m\u00e9s \u00e9s a la seva feina real; l\u2019ag\u00e8ncia de publicitat decideix acomiadar-la per anar disfressada a la feina. <\/p>\n<p>Aix\u00ed que Regina Jos\u00e9 Galindo es treu la disfressa i es troba sense feina, amb pocs recursos per\u00f2 amb una convicci\u00f3. No tenia diners per elaborar una proposta multim\u00e8dia, nom\u00e9s tenia el seu cos. Qu\u00e8 fer? Treballar amb ell.
