Es podrien buscar sin\u00f2nims per al contrast: els professors versus els publicistes, o: els solemnes versus els feli\u00e7os. Els queixosos versus els intoxicats?<\/p>\n<p>Qui repr\u00e8n l&#8217;an\u00e8cdota \u00e9s Christian Viveros-Faun\u00e9, nascut a Santiago de Xile l\u2019any 1965 i establert a Brooklyn des de fa dues d\u00e8cades com a cr\u00edtic d&#8217;art. Decididament, Viveros-Faun\u00e9 milita en el segon grup, i s\u2019escarrassa en els seus textos a trobar els adjectius que m\u00e9s mal facin per qualificar al primer, i en general, a tot aquell que en l&#8217;ambient de l&#8217;art faci olor d\u2019avorriment, de monografia, d\u2019especulaci\u00f3 o de paperassa institucional. Cosa que implica una declaraci\u00f3 de guerra a la legi\u00f3 de professionals del llenguatge i la mat\u00e8ria que, en les \u00faltimes d\u00e8cades, van embarcar a la nau de les arts visuals amb diferents resultats. El clima d&#8217;aquesta guerra sufocant i jocunda \u00e9s semblant al d&#8217;un focus de resist\u00e8ncia contra els morts vius, en el qual el b\u00e0ndol enemic t\u00e9 els avantatges de la majoria i l\u2019auto-replicaci\u00f3. Per\u00f2, contra el cansament i la des\u00eddia, els adjectius solitaris de Viveros-Faun\u00e9 segueixen volant, sortits del no-res, com punys sense bra\u00e7os fets de sensaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>El butllet\u00ed de la guerra contra la burocr\u00e0cia i la letargia, publicat setmana rere setmana al <a href=\" http:\/\/www.villagevoice.com\/\">Village Voice<\/a> sota la forma de cr\u00edtiques d&#8217;art, acaba d\u2019haber-se \u201cantologitzat\u201d i tradu\u00eft a l&#8217;espanyol per <a href=\" http:\/\/www.metalespesados.cl\/libros\/\">Metales Pesados<\/a>, novament a Santiago de Xile. El llibre, Greatest Hits, \u00e9s un compendi de cr\u00edtiques amb l&#8217;olor del dia, plens de l&#8217;alegria i l&#8217;horror de visitar exhibicions regularment. Aquest breviari de la campanya de Viveros-Faun\u00e9 per les principals sales de Nova York durant la passada d\u00e8cada tamb\u00e9 es deixa llegir com a testimoni anticipador: les frases cuidades i sovint punxegudes que Viveros-Faun\u00e9 dedica als seus pintors predilectes i als seus curadors odiats (posem en els extrems de l&#8217;espectre a Lisa Yuskavage i Massimiliano Gioni) ofereixen un besllum d&#8217;idees art\u00edstiques disparades m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 dels l\u00edmits conceptuals auto-imposats de la ind\u00fastria de l&#8217;art, dels seus organismes institucionals i els seus discursos estandarditzats.<\/p>\n<p>Com en molta de la millor cr\u00edtica &#8220;estero\u00efdal&#8221;, amb la qu\u00e8 Viveros-Faun\u00e9 s\u2019hi sent a gust, a la seva escriptura pot escoltar-s\u2019hi la bufada al clatell dels lliuraments i les constriccions del treball a curt termini, tot i que el llibre t\u00e9 l&#8217;estranya continu\u00eftat i autonomia d&#8217;una novel\u00b7la, amb episodis centrals (John Currin, Neo Rauch, la mencionada Yuskavage); trames menors (la demolidora cr\u00edtica de diverses exhibicions curatorials en el seu moment molt comentades); i moments d&#8217;autoreflexi\u00f3, com el perfil de l&#8217;admirat Schjeldahl i l&#8217;\u00faltim text, dedicat al &#8220;surrealisme curatorial&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>La defensa de la sensaci\u00f3 i cert ambigu universalisme redunden en el desplegament d&#8217;un esteticisme planejat, un llenguatge cr\u00edtic carregat de matisos, o millor, \u00edntegrament compost de matisos, adversatives, caramels \u00e0cids i bombes d&#8217;olor amb vocaci\u00f3 humanista. Per\u00f2 l&#8217;esteticisme de Viveros-Faun\u00e9 no \u00e9s nom\u00e9s constitutiu de la seva propensi\u00f3 a la intensitat, a all\u00f2 embriagant i la bellesa -aix\u00ed sigui en la guerra contra el tedi-, ni es limita al c\u00e0non pict\u00f2ric triat (un c\u00e0non visible com una signatura, formada per punts que s\u00f3n, al seu torn, noms). El seu esteticisme \u00e9s m\u00e9s aviat l&#8217;atribut d&#8217;un retrobament amb la idea espectral de l&#8217;autonomia de l&#8217;art, darrere les l\u00ednies perdudes de les justificacions te\u00f2riques a l&#8217;\u00fas, la catatonia, i el llenguatge de sol\u00b7licituds de beca. Les cr\u00edtiques de Viveros-Faun\u00e9 ocorren en el m\u00f3n de l&#8217;extraordinari, un m\u00f3n en qu\u00e8 l&#8217;art s&#8217;ha apropiat novament de les paraules i en el qual les paraules tenen vida pr\u00f2pia en referir-se a les obres d&#8217;art -aquelles coses que, &#8220;de totes les coses, s\u00f3n les \u00faniques que tenen vida&#8221;, segons deia Oscar Wilde.<\/p>\n<p>Capritx\u00f3s? Sentimental?
