El New Museum de Nova York agafa avui el t\u00edtol del disc per a l&#8217;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/view\/nyc-1993-experimental-jet-set-trash-and-no-star\">exposici\u00f3 de la temporada<\/a>. Hi afegeix un <em>NYC 1993<\/em> davant en un intent de contextualitzar el caos que omple les sales: es vol mostrar qu\u00e8 feien els artistes joves a Nova York a principis dels noranta.<\/p>\n<p>La tesi en teoria subjacent \u00e9s que aleshores mor per sempre la difer\u00e8ncia entre l&#8217;alta cultura i all\u00f2 popular; i que es consolida aix\u00ed la intercanviabilitat dels productes culturals dins d&#8217;un espectre horitzontal, en principi pol\u00edtic, per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 nihilista i l\u00fadic. M\u00e9s de 70 artistes conviuen a les cinc plantes del museu, al\u00b7ludint a la idea de comunitat improvisada que sembla que persegueixin recrear els comissaris. Entre d\u2019altres, Ren\u00e9e Green presenta la seva s\u00e8rie documental <em>Funk Office<\/em> (1991-1996); Larry Clark, el seu <em>Untitled<\/em> (1993), una s\u00e8rie de skates intervinguts i fotografies de rodatges; Pep\u00f3n Osorio, <em>The Scene of Crime (Whose Crime?)<\/em> (1993), amb la qual reflexiona sobre la seva identitat \u201cboricua\u201d en el context novaiorqu\u00e8s; Sean Launders, <em>(Sic)<\/em> (1993), s\u00e8rie de 451 folis plens de compulsiva escriptura sobre el seu dia a dia. S&#8217;inclou, tamb\u00e9, l&#8217;obra de Gabriel Orozco <em>Illa dento d&#8217;una illa<\/em> (1993); el d\u00edptic <em>La morgue<\/em> (1992), d&#8217;Andr\u00e9s Serrano; o la caputxa <em>The Hood<\/em> (1993), de David Hammos. No hi falten Rirkrit Tiravanija; Andrea Zittel; Nan Goldin; F\u00e9lix Gonz\u00e1lez-Torres; ni Frank Moore. I tot, acompanyat dels retrats de tots ells, presos per Lina Bertucci al principi de la d\u00e8cada.<\/p>\n<p>De la visita a aquesta mostra reneix la pregunta de com han de plantejar-se les exposicions que inclouen un nombre tan gran de veus. En la conviv\u00e8ncia de tantes obres, es genera una tensi\u00f3 que sembla ser necess\u00e0ria per a l&#8217;afecte i el desgrat que les vincula. No tenen res a veure, no parlen entre si, i cadascuna va a la seva. \u00bf\u00c9s leg\u00edtim doncs, en aquest cas, arraulir-se en l&#8217;al\u00b7lusi\u00f3 al desastre del t\u00edtol per evitar responsabilitzar-se de l&#8217;escriptura d&#8217;un discurs? Precisament per el moment que analitza, aquesta mostra es planta a l\u2019estreta l\u00ednia que separa el no tenir argument del parlar sobre la manca d&#8217;ambicions compartides. Douglas Coupland va assenyalar el desengany, la rebel\u00b7lia i la promiscu\u00eftat com trets de la generaci\u00f3 X. Per\u00f2 qu\u00e8 \u00e9s el que l&#8217;articula en realitat: un grup demogr\u00e0fic o una actitud? Qu\u00e8 historia el New Museum amb aquesta exhibici\u00f3, el treball de desenes d&#8217;artistes o una manera d&#8217;afrontar la vida caracter\u00edstica de la joventut de principis dels noranta?<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019any 1993 t\u00e9 lloc el primer atac d&#8217;Al-Qaida contra Nova York. Tamb\u00e9 comen\u00e7a l&#8217;administraci\u00f3 Clinton; es posa fi al setge de Mostar; mor en un tiroteig Pablo Escobar, i una sobredosi acaba amb la vida de River Phoenix. Les morts associades a la SIDA freguen als Estats Units les 50.000 persones. Aquests finals conviuen amb d\u2019altres esdeveniments televisius, en monitors col\u00b7locats a la planta cinquena de l&#8217;edifici.
