Reflexions despr\u00e9s d&#8217;un recent viatge a Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-7975\" src=\"http:\/\/a-desk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/sumision.jpg\" alt=\"sumision.jpg\" align=\"left\" width=\"670\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/a-desk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/sumision.jpg 670w, https:\/\/a-desk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/sumision-595x396.jpg 595w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><br \/>\nL\u2019any 2007, Santiago Sierra llan\u00e7ava al m\u00f3n el seu nou producte art\u00edstic, en el marc de Proyecto Ju\u00e1rez, una iniciativa d\u2019&#8221;<a href=\" http:\/\/www.gijon.es\/noticias\/show\/14952.pdf\">art p\u00fablic<\/a> que desbordi la frontera del que \u00e9s local i s&#8217;insereix en circuits internacionals&#8221;. Es titulava &#8220;Sumisi\u00f3n&#8221;, encara que originalment s\u2019havia de dir &#8220;Palabra de Fuego&#8221;. Consistia en aquesta paraula excavada en un tur\u00f3 i plena de gasolina que s&#8217;encendria per activar-la. L\u2019enrenou va comen\u00e7ar quan Sierra va denunciar la censura de les autoritats en prohibir la seva encesa. Aix\u00ed, el seu t\u00edtol tamb\u00e9 es va transformar per coincidir amb la paraula excavada. Formada per lletres de 15 metres de longitud, es va situar a Anapra, una de les zones m\u00e9s pobres de la ciutat, al costat de la frontera amb els Estats Units que divideix radicalment Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez i El Paso, Texas. A prop d\u2019Anapra han aparegut tamb\u00e9 algunes de les tristament famoses mortes de Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez, v\u00edctimes de feminicidis encara sense resoldre.<\/p>\n<p>El context s&#8217;ent\u00e9n perfectament. Per\u00f2 de quina submissi\u00f3 ens parla Sierra? De la submissi\u00f3 de les autoritats davant els assassins? De la dels habitants davant el narcotr\u00e0fic i els crims? De la dels empresaris davant dels c\u00e0rtels? De les v\u00edctimes davant dels seus botxins? \u00c9s una acusaci\u00f3, una constataci\u00f3, una proposici\u00f3?<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;ambig\u00fcitat de la paraula, la seva barreja entre discurs pol\u00edtic i falta de missatge clar en el seu significat textual, la seva magnitud i monumentalitat, i per descomptat, la gr\u00e0cia de la censura, van fer d&#8217;aquesta pe\u00e7a un hit de l&#8217;art pol\u00edtic en els circuits internacionals. Perqu\u00e8 tenia la gentilesa de deixar-li a l&#8217;espectador un espai per a la reflexi\u00f3, perqu\u00e8 no donava respostes directes i no feia preguntes espec\u00edfiques. El tipus d&#8217;obra que pot viatjar de Hong Kong a Nova York, compromesa ergo censurada (quin esc\u00e0ndol!).<\/p>\n<p>Per\u00f2 la interpretaci\u00f3 de la pe\u00e7a a Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez \u00e9s molt diferent. En primer lloc, la paraula els resulta ofensiva a col\u00b7lectius, activistes, associacions i habitants en general (tots ells grups amb qu\u00e8 Sierra no va buscar ajuntar-se) que aguanten l&#8217;envit d&#8217;una situaci\u00f3 degradada i violenta, sovint posant en risc les seves vides per reivindicar drets humans b\u00e0sics. Ells i elles ni se senten submisos ni creuen que les v\u00edctimes ho fossin. I per descomptat, consideren la classe pol\u00edtica m\u00e9s aviat c\u00f2mplice que submisa. I tot i recon\u00e8ixer la complexitat de la situaci\u00f3, cap d&#8217;ells dubta que fer preguntes concretes i donar respostes contundents \u00e9s una cosa fonamental.<\/p>\n<p>D&#8217;altra banda, una es pregunta de qu\u00e8 parlem quan parlem d&#8217;art contextual o p\u00fablic en aquesta pe\u00e7a. \u00c9s cert, la paraula es va excavar a Ju\u00e1rez. Per\u00f2 no va ser per a cap benefici local que els diners es dirigissin a aquesta producci\u00f3 en un context en qu\u00e8 pr\u00e0cticament tots els agents art\u00edstics es rasquen amb les seves pr\u00f2pies ungles i treballen per amor a l&#8217;art; en una ciutat de 1.300.000 habitants on nom\u00e9s hi ha un museu d&#8217;art. &#8220;Sumisi\u00f3n&#8221; va ser produ\u00efda i mai presentada a Ju\u00e1rez, les seves imatges s\u00f3n venudes en galeries que no en tenen res de p\u00fabliques, i circulen per xarxes internacionals que no en tenen res de contextuals. Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez no \u00e9s un context, sin\u00f3 un tema que l&#8217;artista utilitza pel seu propi benefici, un lloc de producci\u00f3 que aporta nom\u00e9s guanys: com passa amb la <a href=\" http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maquiladora \">ind\u00fastria maquiladora<\/a>, responsable de gran part de la situaci\u00f3. De la mateixa manera es va beneficiar de l&#8217;acusaci\u00f3 de censura, quan en realitat Proyecto Ju\u00e1rez no va prendre les mesures de seguretat apropiades i els bombers van comunicar que en aquestes circumst\u00e0ncies els resultava impossible controlar un foc provocat al desert (aix\u00f2 s\u00ed que \u00e9s context).<\/p>\n<p>No s\u00f3c l&#8217;\u00fanica que es mostra esc\u00e8ptica davant les propostes de Santiago Sierra, per\u00f2 en aquest cas, em preocupa la facilitat amb qu\u00e8 assumim en els circuits art\u00edstics internacionals discursos suposadament pol\u00edtics, descontextualitzats, dels quals no en sabem m\u00e9s que el que l\u2019<em>artist statement<\/em> ens vol explicar. Qu\u00e8 f\u00e0cil que resulta ser <em>engaged<\/em> al c\u00f2ctel de la biennal de torn.
