Recon\u00e8ixer all\u00f2 visible com a s\u00edmbol de l&#8217;invisible, assumir que all\u00f2 que apareix \u00e9s el rastre de la desaparici\u00f3, del que ja no hi \u00e9s. Tra\u00e7os entesos a manera de forrellat, claus que condueixen al bagul de la mem\u00f2ria personal i col\u00b7lectiva per tal de guanyar-li la batalla a l&#8217;oblit, de recuperar el que il\u00b7leg\u00edtimament ens va ser sostret.<\/p>\n<p>El treball de Pelayo Varela (Oviedo, 1969), que exposa a la <a href=\" http:\/\/www.galeriasicart.com\/?cat=5\">Galeria Sicart<\/a> de Vilafranca, parteix d&#8217;una reflexi\u00f3 engendrada en l&#8217;interrogant sobre la identitat. La seva investigaci\u00f3 \u00e9s, sempre, una manera d&#8217;apuntalar, no el dubte sin\u00f3 la pregunta cap al jo. L&#8217;artista asturi\u00e0 fila un discurs sobre el subjecte a partir d&#8217;assumir la impossibilitat d&#8217;acotar els l\u00edmits identitaris que intenten imposar-nos. Juga al seu torn amb la pr\u00f2pia pr\u00e0ctica art\u00edstica. Pr\u00e0ctica que divideix en dos vials: d\u2019una banda, aquell que ens condueix a una re-significaci\u00f3 del que \u00e9s o no \u00e9s l&#8217;artista; i de l&#8217;altra, la infinitat de frivolitats que despr\u00e8n el m\u00f3n de l&#8217;art. Tot aix\u00f2 no \u00e9s m\u00e9s que una met\u00e0fora sobre com funcionem en l&#8217;anomenat entorn social. La for\u00e7a del seu treball rau justament en la capacitat per reflexionar sobre la subjectivitat, sobre l&#8217;humanisme: <em>Ning\u00fa pot quedar-se en si mateix. La humanitat de l&#8217;home, la subjectivitat, \u00e9s una responsabilitat per als altres, una vulnerabilitat extrema. El retorn cap a un mateix es fa retorn interminable.<\/em> Amb aquestes paraules Emmanuel L\u00e9vinas ens deixava un llegat sobre la identitat o, m\u00e9s aviat, sobre la seva falta. Assumir-se a un mateix exigeix un assumir l&#8217;altre: una mica d\u2019aix\u00f2 de qu\u00e8 avui es fuig. \u00c9s doncs, una identitat falsa, la que ens defineix, i \u00e9s contra aix\u00f2 contra el que s&#8217;al\u00e7a el gest de Pelayo Varela.<\/p>\n<p>Varela q\u00fcestiona, m\u00e9s ben dit, es q\u00fcestiona a si mateix creant un mirall en el qual mirar-nos. Qui s\u00f3c jo?; qui ets tu?; i, al meu entendre, l&#8217;interrogant m\u00e9s interessant: qui volen que siguem? Aquesta \u00faltima pregunta \u00e9s llan\u00e7ada a tot puntal que s&#8217;erigeixi sota un signe de poder. Tant el collage sobre paper <em>Curricullum vitae 1<\/em> com els treballs en tinta <em>Curriculum Vitae 2<\/em> s&#8217;inscriuen en aquesta cr\u00edtica que l&#8217;artista dirigeix al sistema. Tots dos treballs s\u00f3n un emblema cr\u00edtic i ir\u00f2nic sobre all\u00f2 en el que assentem la nostra persona, tota la s\u00e8rie <em>Curr\u00edculum<\/em> s&#8217;erigeix com estigma de l&#8217;absurd.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cabeza borradora<\/em>, ve agrupada pels dibuixos en paper, el v\u00eddeo i l&#8217;escultura realitzada en goma d&#8217;esborrar. El conjunt de materials s\u00f3n el rastre de l&#8217;acci\u00f3. S\u00f3n el testimoni del que ha passat, s\u00f3n, en el fons, el testimoni que indica la manca de testimoniatge. L&#8217;artista ha realitzat un bust a mida real del seu propi rostre i, gr\u00e0cies a la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 dels estudiants de l&#8217;Escola Municipal d&#8217;Art Arsenal de Vilafranca del Pened\u00e8s, proposa dibuixar el seu rostre. Els alumnes dibuixen, rememorant la pr\u00e0ctica antiga, la figura que tenen davant. Despr\u00e9s, s&#8217;utilitza el bust per esborrar alguns dels tra\u00e7os que han estat dibuixats. El resultat, recollit en el v\u00eddeo que acompanya la mostra, apel\u00b7la de nou a aquesta doble moral que impera en el sistema. Propostes que anuncien la necessitat de fer hist\u00f2ria, de recordar el passat, d&#8217;assumir el protagonisme de l&#8217;individu en la societat, s&#8217;encaren a la realitat. All\u00f2 real es filtra davant l&#8217;abs\u00e8ncia i \u00e9s aix\u00ed com el poder pret\u00e9n que siguem testimonis de la seva mentida.<\/p>\n<p>Varela denuncia com mitjan\u00e7ant la simple acci\u00f3 d&#8217;esborrar s&#8217;amaga l&#8217;escombrat i\/o esborrat final; mentre esborrem, nosaltres desapareixem de la mateixa manera que el bust minva en cada tra\u00e7 esborrat. L&#8217;acci\u00f3, simple i directa, \u00e9s extrapolable a la societat. Un gest que amaga les estratagemes del poder i les seves conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncies. Apareix tamb\u00e9 l&#8217;escrit per Baudrillard en el crim perfecte, no hi ha crim m\u00e9s perfecte que l&#8217;assassinat de la realitat, sense m\u00f2bils ni proves. Ens han conven\u00e7ut per a ser el nostre propi botx\u00ed. Cadascuna de les decisions i accions que assumim que segueixen directrius imposades s\u00f3n, en el fons, trets a la nostra identitat.
