La quietud de la imatge, la seva bi-dimensionalitat i la seva capacitat per documentar, fan que sigui un mitj\u00e0 gaireb\u00e9 inevitable per a aquells artistes treballant amb arxius i investigacions, per\u00f2 el flux excessiu de fotografies amb qu\u00e8 estem constantment bombardejats avui dia fa que l&#8217;especificitat del mitj\u00e0 sigui el menys important.<\/p>\n<p>Dit aix\u00f2, aquest any vaig tenir l&#8217;ocasi\u00f3 de visitar l\u2019esdeveniment fotogr\u00e0fic per excel\u00b7l\u00e8ncia: les Rencontres d&#8217;Arles. Com era d&#8217;esperar, la selecci\u00f3 de les exposicions abastava des de les polaroids de Guy Bourdin, passant per la fotografia en blanc i negre del xil\u00e8 Sergio Larra\u00edn, fins a les grans impressions abstractes de Wolfgang Tillmans. Vaig agrair el contacte amb la imatge anal\u00f2gica, especialment la hist\u00f2rica, i poder apreciar la quasi absoluta abs\u00e8ncia del que el documentalista angl\u00e8s Adam Curtis anomena <em>Oh Dearism.<\/em> \u00c9s a dir, tot i que el tema d&#8217;aquest any fos <em>Arles in Black<\/em>&#8211; referit al blanc i negre i tamb\u00e9 dedueixo que al continent afric\u00e0-, no hi havia drama. Curtis explica en un dels seus seductors v\u00eddeos com els mitjans han aconseguit que, davant les fotografies dels terribles esdeveniments que succeeixen al voltant del m\u00f3n, no puguem fer res, tan sols exclamar <em>&#8216;Oh dear&#8217;<\/em> (quina pena) i passar p\u00e0gina.<\/p>\n<p>En canvi, a l&#8217;exposici\u00f3 <em>Transition, paysages d\u2019une soci\u00e9t\u00e9<\/em> (Transici\u00f3, paisatges d&#8217;una societat) es mostra el treball de fot\u00f2grafs sud-africans i francesos que han realitzat projectes a Sud-\u00e0frica relacionats amb la propietat de la terra i la complexitat del territori. Les fotografies demostren un pa\u00eds encara en transici\u00f3 per\u00f2 no hi ha imatges dram\u00e0tiques, la majoria s\u00f3n estudis que tenen a veure amb la ciutat i el paisatge, i v\u00e9nen acompanyats de documents. S&#8217;analitza la realitat sociopol\u00edtica en relaci\u00f3 a l&#8217;her\u00e8ncia de la colonitzaci\u00f3, partint que l\u2019any 2013 \u00e9s el centenari de la primera llei que va fundar l&#8217;apartheid, el Land Act, que reservava als blancs l&#8217;explotaci\u00f3 de la majoria de les terres sud-africanes.<\/p>\n<p>D&#8217;altra banda, tamb\u00e9 em va alegrar veure la s\u00e8rie <em>Afronautas<\/em> de Cristina de Middel (Alacant, 1975) que ha estat finalista enguany del prestigi\u00f3s Deustche B\u00f6rse Photography Prize i exposada diverses vegades a Espanya. La s\u00e8rie es basa en el projecte que va dur a terme Z\u00e0mbia l\u2019any 1964 de llan\u00e7ar el seu primer programa espacial, que pretenia portar a diversos astronautes i a un gat a la lluna. Edward Makuka va ser el cient\u00edfic encarregat de programar el projecte i intentar demanar els fons necessaris a les Nacions Unides. Un projecte fallit des del principi, per\u00f2 que reflecteix molt b\u00e9 el moment d&#8217;independ\u00e8ncia dels pa\u00efsos africans. Les imatges dist\u00f2piques deixen clar el punt rid\u00edcul i ficcional de qualsevol tipus de campanya espacial i fan l&#8217;ullet a l&#8217;imaginari americ\u00e0 dels anys cinquanta a partir de versions casolanes d&#8217;ovnis, naus espacials i plats voladors. Les fotografies estan exposades sobre parets falses folrades de paper de plata i a m\u00e9s de la s\u00e8rie trobem retalls de diari anunciant la not\u00edcia, diagrames i algun objecte.<\/p>\n<p>De Middel realitza una interpretaci\u00f3 po\u00e8tica d&#8217;un episodi hist\u00f2ric basat en la imaginaci\u00f3 i l&#8217;optimisme d&#8217;un pa\u00eds que acabava d&#8217;independitzar-se. En aquest cas, la ficci\u00f3 resulta ser la millor manera de representar la realitat africana, esgotada per les imatges dels mitjans que apunten sempre cap a la victimitzaci\u00f3 i la trag\u00e8dia. Per contra, de Middel s&#8217;apropa m\u00e9s als retrats de Malik Sibid\u00e9, on parelles i fam\u00edlies posen orgulloses davant del seu nou televisor, o als pentinats escult\u00f2rics que porta retratant la nigeriana Okhai Ojeikere des dels anys setanta. Unes imatges a les ant\u00edpodes de l\u2019<em>Oh Dearism<\/em>, que dilapiden la relaci\u00f3 entre fotografia i esdeveniments reals i ens recorden que, potser la il\u00b7lusi\u00f3 i la fantasia, despr\u00e9s de tot, s\u00f3n les millors i m\u00e9s segures formes de representaci\u00f3.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-8192\" src=\"http:\/\/a-desk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IKO_IKO.jpg\" alt=\"\"Iko Iko\" de la serie Afronautas (2012), de Cristina de Middel.
