Without a doubt they are worthy winners. For years now they have been battling to carry out a project that works to increase the visibility of new agents in the city. They have made few concessions, which has caused them more than one problem or run in with the administration, upon who they are dependent. Always walking the tightrope. Always with budgets that would shame any museum or art centre (if it is about weighing up the balance of cost and effectiveness, then without a doubt they win hands down, while others just make plans and think about what to do). Let\u2019s hope that returning to the Sala d\u2019Art Jove, having collected the prize, means not having to continue amidst the same uncertainty and insecurity, nor return to the same balancing act and economic precariousness.  <\/p>\n<p>Praise and thanks for work well done are all well and good. But democracy is not just about isolated events and politics needs fewer photographs (we have had more than our fair share, at the drop of a hat they want to be photographed) and more, if you\u2019ll forgive the repetition, policies.<\/p>\n<p>Among the prize winners was also Josep Ramoneda, whose contract at the CCCB has just been rescinded. Jaume Ciurana, Councillor for Culture, said that he sees no problem with this, given that the City of Barcelona prizes have independent juries. In actual fact, each one of the prizes has an independent jury (at least as independent as it can be, that is to say it is not the politicians who hand-pick the prize winners). It would be good if this independence wasn\u2019t just a sham or charade for democracy, later paying no heed to the sector, nor taking into account the consulting commissions, whose opinions are doomed to remain unheard.
